It is celebrated by Hindus worldwide to commemorate the triumph of good over evil, knowledge over ignorance, and hope over despair. In Hindu culture, light is a powerful metaphor of knowledge and consciousness. It is a reminder of preciousness of self-inquiry and enhancement of self- knowledge; which brings harmony to individual, to the family, and to the community and between communities. Lighting lamps reminds us to keep on the right path, to dispel darkness from our hearts and minds, and to welcome wisdom and righteousness around us!!
